This species is globally distributed in the Himalayan range across India, Nepal, Bhutan and South East Tibet between an altitude range of 3000-4400 m. Within India, it is found in Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh (Lahaul-Spiti : Common on slopes, generally found in association with Betula utilis. Gramphoo-Dorni), Uttar Pradesh, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh.
